Common questions

Do I need a residential parking permit in Northern Liberties?

If you park on a residential permit block, yes. The Philadelphia Parking Authority issues the permits and publishes an interactive map of permit districts. Check your block there.

How much is a permit and what do I need?

The PPA charges a flat $75 per vehicle per year (since September 1, 2024). You need Pennsylvania plates on a vehicle registered to your home address, plus proof of registration and proof of residency: your driver's license, your lease, or a recent utility bill in your name. You can apply online, by mail, or in person at 35 N. 8th St. See the PPA's permit page.

How do I reserve curb space for a moving truck?

Apply for a Temporary No Parking permit from the City's Department of Streets at least four business days before you need it. Fees depend on the location. After you have the permit, post the signs as soon as you receive them or at least 24 hours before you need the space; the police district provides the signs. See the City's permit page.
